Beautiful overcast day for garden work.  Matthew joined us from a local organic farm, and brought us a bunch of extra plants, and a whole lot of energy and good conversation.     Thank you, Matthew!

We made it to the remaining un-turned beds, and worked on transplanting a bunch of “volunteers” in the garden.  We had quite a bit of milkweed which we moved to the new Butterfly Garden, though it doesn’t usually transplant so well for us.  We gave it a good try and will see how it’s doing later this week.  The children did an in-depth Monarch rearing project the last few years, so are excited to plant a garden to better support the Monarch’s at The Meadow.

We took all the chickweed that we pulled to Blue, Rupert and Milton the Potbelly Pigs.  Yum yum.  Although the children were nibbling on it as well as they crossed The Meadow.

We found a beautiful juvenile Black Rat Snake in the mulch, and after observing it for a bit, we released it on the other side of the fence.  Hoping it will stay away from our shovels.  🙁
