The children saw an example of a “Wildlife Hotel” in a gardening book and wanted to build one with our loose parts.  We looked up various designs on google images and projected them on the wall.  The children all drew their favorite designs and then we voted on which one we might try.  This one was chosen.

We collected “loose parts” from our warehouse. 🙂

The children worked hard selecting, loading and hauling materials.  Heavy work is so important, you know!

The treasures.  Ellie:  “The animals will love it!”

The children used tremendous skills and teamwork to move all of the pallets across the entire Meadow.  Collaborating to determine how to lift them up and stabilize them took a good while.

Now for the fun part.  Everyone filled it up with their favorite items.  Stones, pinecones, bricks, sticks, straw, paper, sheep wool, yarn (cut short to prevent tangles) and tubing.

The younger classes were intriqued and came by to learn what we were doing.  Zia gave them a lesson on Wildlife habitats.

Lifting the roof pallets up needed Super Andrew!.  He stabilized them for us and put in a couple of screw tacks to hold it while we nailed  all the pallets together.

Welcome animals.
